4 Reasons iLove the Internet Marketing Podcast | Business 2 ...

I?m becoming a huge fan of podcasts.

While I enjoy reading, I?ve grown to appreciate the ability to listen to content which allows me to multitask. I listen to podcasts when I exercise, while I drive, and even when I?m traveling.

Not all podcasts are created equally though! A little over a year ago I recommended 3 Podcasts You Should Be Listening To Right Now, and while I do still listen and enjoy those shows my new favorite podcast is the Internet Marketing Podcast by SiteVisibility.

Here are 4 reasons why iLove the Internet Marketing Podcast:

1. Content is King

There is an old saying that in content marketing content is king and this podcast is the best I?ve found for information related to content marketing, search engine marketing, and all things in between. If you are a school beginning with inbound marketing, or trying to improve your inbound marketing efforts, you should begin listening to this podcast.

2. Great Length

A pet peeve of mine are long podcasts. I already mentioned that I enjoy listening to podcasts while doing other things so carving out a long block of time to finish listening to a show is tough to do. The Internet Marketing Podcast seems to be a perfect length ? a half hour or less.

3. Very Educational

The main reason iLove the Internet Marketing Podcast is that I just learn so darn much in under 3o minutes. Kelvin and Andy, the hosts of the podcast, are knowledge and make the topics they discuss very accessible. I keep coming back because I keep learning more and more!

4. Love the Accent

I?m based in the US and SiteVisibilty is based in the UK and quite honestly I enjoy Kelvin and Andy?s accents. Although I?m only half kidding the final thing I enjoy is the casual and relaxed nature of podcast. Kelvin and Andy seem to really enjoy the show and the content which in some way translates into me enjoying the podcast even more.

Flight makes emergency landing after American Airlines first officer falls ill

A Dallas-bound American Airlines flight made an emergency landing in St. Louis on Monday morning, after the plane's first officer fell ill on board.

The first officer in the cockpit of?American Airlines Flight 2309 had a medical emergency sometime after the MD80 aircraft took off from Chicago at 9:53 a.m. CT.?The first officer may have suffered chest pains,?according to NBCChicago.com.

"Another pilot was in the jump seat and took over?the duties of the first officer," airline spokesperson Mary Frances Fagan said in a statement.

The plane landed safely at 10:51 a.m. CT in St. Louis, where paramedics took the first officer off the aircraft and to a nearby hospital.

A new cockpit crew was assigned in St. Louis, and the resumed?flight was expected to land in Dallas at 1:37 p.m. CT.

Another piece of the Veracity Media puzzle is here at last! We?ve been working hard these last six months on adding a creative writing division to our publishing house, Veracity Press, with the idea of supporting poets and writers looking to break out and do something new, to Do Another Thing as it were.?What has come of this dream is a whole new press?one dedicated to poetry, fiction, and creative non-fiction?a press outside of the direct realm of political writing, and yet intimately related to it: for what are artists and creators and visionaries, if not commentators and teachers and masters of perspective, who give their audience a fresh new look at the world around them, at our fellow humans and our society, and are thus necessarily and inevitably political.

Like our parent company, our press was conceived in New Orleans, Louisiana, and we are proud of our adopted home. Hoping to combine a taste of our city with our foundational idea of supporting new, refreshing works of art, we gave birth to Do Another Thing Press, or DAT Press as we like to call it.

We recognize the multitude of blank pages?the dilapidated wall, the scholarly journal, the street corner cipher, the self-bounded chapbook, the slam poet?s spit-stained stage. We do not believe any of these forums are better or worse than another, and we aspire to contain all of them at once, and many, many more.

We do not believe poetry is an esoteric art form?not in the least. For Bob Marley, Richard Pryor, Eminem, and Muhammad Ali were, and are, and continue to be, poets that stream through the consciousness of fans throughout the world. Poetry is by no means exclusive, nor is it dead?its range, simply and often, just goes unrecognized.

We envision our press as not just the disseminator of words, but as an active member in a community of artists?a community that realizes the limitations that have been placed on artwork and poetry and wishes to break out of old paradigms. We know that artists require moral support, affection and admiration, criticism and dialogue and revision. They require a forum for expression, on the page and on the stage. And they require, as all things in our modern world, money to reach their audience and share their artwork with others.

Along these lines, we have pledged a portion of all proceeds from the sale of DAT Press titles and merchandise to an Artist?s Fund. This account will be used to support our writers, whether its posters and ads to promote their local reading event or help on a plane ticket to attend conferences or retreats. With your continued support, we hope to hold events in writer?s hometowns, offering a stage for not just our artists but for others in the community to get together and share, respond, and network.

Our first series of titles are set to roll off the presses in the coming weeks and months. We will publish ten original chapbooks from poets around the country, reflecting a broad range of talent from outstanding writers. Workday sets IPO terms valuing company at up to $3.85 billion

(Reuters) - Workday Inc, which provides cloud-based human resource software, said it plans to price its initial public offering of Class A shares at between $21 and $24 each, valuing the Silicon Valley company at up to $3.85 billion.

Workday was co-founded by ex-PeopleSoft executives David Duffield and Aneel Bhusri, who left PeopleSoft following its acquisition by Oracle Corp in 2004. It confidentially filed for an IPO in July under the Jumpstart Our Business Startups (JOBS) Act.

The Act allows a company to keep financial details contained in IPO documents private for longer and permits it to keep its registration statement confidential until 21 days prior to the first road show. The company subsequently filed in August to raise up to $400 million in its IPO.

Workday is looking to sell 22.75 million Class A shares in the offering. At the mid-point of Workday's expected range, the offering will raise about $512 million.

A dual-class share structure -- which allows owners to retain control even after selling a large stake -- has been used by a number of tech startups and was recently seen in the IPO of English soccer team Manchester United.

Workday's Class A and Class B shares are identical, except for voting and conversion rights. Each Class A share is entitled to one vote while each Class B share is entitled to ten votes and is convertible into a Class A share at any time.

Duffield and Bhusri, together with their affiliates, will hold about 67 percent of the voting rights after the offering, the company said in a filing.

The company, which is also backed by private equity firm Greylock Partners, listed Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs as the lead underwriters for the offering.

Workday's Class A shares, which have been approved for listing on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol "WDAY", are scheduled to be priced on October 11, an underwriter said.

Three Common Estate Planning Mistakes That ... - Financial Finesse

When I made a mistake once on my taxes, I got a notice from the IRS in the mail asking me to pay what I actually owed and a little extra for interest and penalties.? This was certainly not a pleasant experience, but all it really cost me was money and my pride. However, when you make a mistake in estate planning and don?t catch it, you may not know it until it is too late.? The very people you were trying to take care of may end up muttering your name under their breath in frustration because they have some problems on their hands.

I reached out to a couple of colleagues at Financial Finesse and asked them about some common estate planning nightmares they encountered in their professional lives.? Interestingly, the most common mistakes weren?t from complex strategies people were trying. They were from ordinary human mistakes we all can make ? procrastinating, not following through and cutting corners.

Here are some of the examples we saw and some tips on avoiding them:

Procrastination. I found just putting this chore off to be a very common estate planning mistake, not because people didn?t know they needed one, but because difficult decisions needed to be made.? Case in point, I had clients who were in their early forties and had two children who were eight and twelve.? They knew they needed to appoint a guardian but they couldn?t decide who to pick.? Their best friends were their first choice because they were wonderful parents and very loving, but they weren?t great with money. The brother would be a prudent trustee on the inheritance and life insurance proceeds for the kids, but they felt he didn?t have the best parenting skills.? So they never set it up.

They came in to see me one day in shock since the best friend passed away suddenly.? They felt their own mortality as we all do when someone close to us passes away.? They immediately got their estate plan in order with a will and a trust ? the brother as the guardian to care for the kids if needed and to manage any inheritance for them.? They didn?t realize they could have actually chosen different people to manage each function ? the friend to raise the children and the brother to manage the funds. Ask a financial planner or an estate planning attorney to help you if you are battling these types of difficult decisions instead of simply defaulting to inaction.

Not following through.? Scott Spann, CFP?, our planner from Charleston, South Carolina ,shared that a mistake he often uncovered with new clients was not funding a trust once it was set up.? After doing all that work and going through the expense of setting up a trust, many people never re-titled the assets and the trust sat unfunded.? The will had language to fund the trust after death (a pour-over will which makes everything go into the trust that wasn?t funded) but the problem with this is the trust has to go through probate then.? This is the very thing that people were trying to avoid when they set it up.? A pour-over will is intended to be a stop-gap measure in case there are assets that are inadvertently left out of a trust ? not as a primary funding mechanism.? After setting up a trust ? make sure you fund it!

Work with your attorney to re-title the appropriate assets to the trust name ? especially the title to your home. For those who don?t have a trust and live in a state that allows beneficiary trust deeds (Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Ohio, Oklahoma and Wisconsin), look into adding a beneficiary to your trust.

Cutting corners.? We all try to economize in one way or another, but on estate planning documents, it not a great idea. Diane Winland, CFP?, CPA gave an example of one of her former clients when she worked as a financial advisor.? A wealthy couple wanted to gift each of their grandchildren $10,000 so they met with an estate planning attorney and set up an irrevocable trust for each grandchild.? Where they made their mistake was when a new baby was born. Instead of going to the attorney and having a new trust set up, they simply photocopied an old one, used it as a template, replaced the name on the document and added the new grandchild?s name.? Then they signed and notarized the document, thinking everything was fine.? Unbeknownst to them, the tax law had changed and that new trust wasn?t valid because of the language on it. Each year until the grandchild turned 18, they had to pay additional taxes since the trust was irrevocable.? Cutting corners ended up costing much more in the end.

There is no perfect estate plan.? We can?t plan for every contingency, but if we take some time to think about the major things, plan for them and double check that the right people are on the right documents, it can go a very long way in the end. If you have a good solid estate plan, that is probably about as perfect as you can get and the beneficiaries are going to be very relieved because they?ll have a lot of other things to deal with when the time comes.
