There are college football bowl games and then there is the Rose Bowl, the Granddaddy of Them All. Played continuously since 1916, its the oldest college football bowl game. While it does not necessary pit the # 1 team against the # 2, it usually serves as a point of convergence for a team from the Big Ten and the Pac-12. This year?s Rose Bowl served another purpose ? a place of redemption for University of Oregon Ducks. Looking to end a Rose Bowl losing streak some 94 years after its win against University of Pennsylvania in 1917, the Ducks went into yesterday?s game with University of Wisconsin Badgers prepared. However, the most notable (and the most commented) aspect of the Rose Bowl wasn?t the gameplay. It was the mirror finish on Ducks? helmets. Created as part of the new integrated uniform system from Nike Pro Combat by Nike Football, the helmet features wings laminated in a LiquidMetal black finish, giving it a polished mirror appearance. The look certainly has Notre Dame?s golden helmets a run for its money. See the Ducks? new uniform in action in the recap after the click below, courtesy of Yahoo! Sports.
